Riassunto
This master's thesis aims to investigate the neuro-functional correlates of emotional processing in adolescents with emotional dysregulation, with the aim of deepening the understanding of the biological bases underlying this psychological problem. Emotional dysregulation represents a complex and clinically relevant phenomenon, characterized by difficulties in the expression, regulation and management of emotions, which can significantly influence the psychosocial functioning of adolescent individuals. The research methodology involves the use of advanced neuroimaging techniques, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), to examine brain activity during specific emotional processing tasks. Particular attention will be dedicated to the analysis of the neural circuits involved in emotional perception, regulation and response in adolescents with emotional dysregulation, comparing the results with those of a control group of the same age and typical development. The results obtained may contribute to delineating the neural mechanisms underlying emotional dysregulation in adolescence, providing valuable information for the definition of targeted therapeutic interventions. An in-depth understanding of these neurobiological correlates could pave the way for personalized intervention strategies aimed at improving the emotional regulation and psychological well-being of adolescents affected by this problem. Furthermore, the findings could have relevant implications for the theory and practice of clinical psychology, contributing to expanding knowledge on the links between neurobiological aspects and behavioral manifestations of emotional dysregulations during adolescence.
