Summary
The study aims to recognize the differences in morphological and vascular characteristics in 256subjects with type 2 diabetes might increase the potential predictive role of kidney ultrasonography in the correct classification among DKD (Diabetic kidney disease)phenotypes.
We reported for the first time that the emerging phenotype of normoalbuminuric DKD shows reduced TRV (Total Renal Volume) and PRV (Parenchymal Renal Volume). RI (Resistive Index) presents an association with Alb-DKD (non-albuminuric diabetic kidney disease) and a positive linear correlation with DKD phenotypes from 1 to 4.
Between-method differences for 2DUS (Two-dimensional ultrasonography) versus 3DUS (three-dimensional ultrasonography) demonstrated no significant bias for all measurements compared.
