Riassunto
This thesis is aimed to investigate social policies like Universal Basic Income (UBI) and Job Guarantee (JG) in the European Union countries in order to prevent the problem of unemployment, poverty and inequality. The main goal of the paper is to understand whether it is possible to introduce these programs and what will be the impact of them on the social and economic life of the countries.
With a view to better understanding this phenomenon, we have calculated the cost of Universal Basic Income and have found the amount of monthly payment of it for each country of EU. This analysis was strengthened by the checking Gini index for EU countries after introducing UBI. On the other side, we have found the cost of Job Guarantee and have understood the annual cost of it for the EU region.
It has been found that applying of Job Guarantee program in the EU region is more real than Universal Basic Income, as it doesn't require a huge modification of existing socio-economic policy in the countries and could be used as the additional social program for dealing with the above-mentioned problems.
Source of data that was used in our work is the Database of European Statistic Committee (EUROSTAT).
