Riassunto
The thesis aims at investigating the transient response of the liquid-based Brayton-Joule PTES technology, with particular emphasis on its behavior in off-design conditions. A detailed thermodynamic model of the system is developed to pursue this goal following a model-based design approach. Particular attention is given to the study and sizing process of the subcomponents since such aspects become relevant when it comes to determining the system feasibility and capital cost. The model is then used to study and approach the first implementation of an innovative control strategy for system regulation, called inventory control. Lastly, the model is employed to simulate the dynamic behavior of the system under several scenarios in order to gain an understanding of its potential performance in the power sector.
