In questo elaborato viene presentato il settore dei plasmaderivati in modo sintetico ma abbastanza esaustivo, per poi concentrarsi sull’azienda più importante in Italia nell’ambito, ovvero Kedrion S.p.A., effettuando un’analisi economico-finanziaria sul biennio 2019-2020.
Nel primo capitolo viene spiegata, dal punto di vista teorico, l’analisi economico-finanziaria che verrà condotta sull’azienda nel terzo capitolo. Le spiegazioni riguardo il bilancio di esercizio con l’applicazione dei principi contabili internazionali IAS/IFRS, l’illustrazione degli indici che saranno calcolati in seguito e le considerazioni da fare una volta ottenuto il quadro generale relativo al biennio in questione, sono tutti passaggi fondamentali per la comprensione del lavoro che sarà svolto con riferimento all’azienda. Gli indici di bilancio sono suddivisi in base alla tipologia di informazioni che la relazione matematica ci restituisce. I principali gruppi di indicatori riguardano l’analisi della struttura patrimoniale, dell’autonomia finanziaria e della sostenibilità del debito, della liquidità, della redditività e dei flussi di cassa del periodo.
La tesi è stata poi sviluppata con la presentazione dei medicinali plasmaderivati, dove viene spiegato che cosa sono e quali sono i diversi prodotti realizzati dalle aziende e richiesti dal mercato. Sulla base dei dati a disposizione, sono state effettuate delle considerazioni riguardo l’andamento della domanda di tali prodotti nel corso degli ultimi anni. Con riferimento al plasma raccolto sul territorio nazionale, sono state identificate le aziende che, dopo aver ottenuto l’autorizzazione dell’ente di competenza e aver stipulato delle convenzioni con le Regioni, si occupano del frazionamento del plasma e della produzione dei medicinali plasmaderivati in Italia. Nel secondo capitolo viene presentata inoltre Kedrion S.p.A., l’azienda oggetto di analisi, della quale sono riportati cenni storici della sua crescita, situazione attuale e fatti di rilievo relativi al biennio considerato. In aggiunta a ciò, un paragrafo di questo capitolo si sofferma sul quadro normativo nazionale ed europeo relativo alla commercializzazione dei medicinali derivati dal sangue o dal plasma umano. Dato l’impatto della recente pandemia da SARS-CoV2 (responsabile del Covid-19) sull’economia mondiale, vengono illustrati gli effetti negativi registrati dalle aziende del settore dei plasmaderivati nello svolgimento delle proprie attività operative, i quali di conseguenza si riflettono sui valori di bilancio e sugli indici calcolati.
Infine, il terzo capitolo è dedicato all’analisi pratica del bilancio di Kedrion (2019/2020), utilizzando gli indicatori scelti in precedenza e confrontando i risultati ottenuti con i dati riportati dalle altre aziende del settore. In un primo momento, vengono esposte alcune considerazioni sui prospetti di bilancio consolidato e l’analisi è solo di tipo temporale, per cui si concentra sulle variazioni significative dei risultati di Kedrion tra i due esercizi considerati con lo scopo di identificarle e cercare di fornire una spiegazione adeguata in relazione alle differenze di valore riscontrate. Successivamente, l’analisi viene svolta anche nello spazio, confrontando i valori degli indici dell’azienda con quelli di alcuni dei competitors descritti in precedenza che attualmente operano anche sul territorio italiano, ovvero Octapharma AG e Grifols, per gli stessi anni di riferimento. Le riflessioni effettuate riguardo gli indicatori e i giudizi assegnati, nei panni di un analista esterno alla società, con riferimento all’andamento passato e prospettico dell’azienda, costituiscono la parte centrale e conclusiva della tesi.


This paper presents the plasma-derived sector in a synthetic but quite exhaustive way, and then it focuses on the most important company in Italy in the field, namely Kedrion S.p.A., carrying out an economic-financial analysis on the two-year period 2019-2020.
The first chapter explains, from a theoretical point of view, the economic-financial analysis that will be conducted on the company in the third chapter. The explanations regarding the financial statements compiled with the application of the International Accounting Standards IAS/IFRS, the illustration of the ratios that will be calculated later on and the observations to be made once the general framework for the two-year period considered has been obtained, these are all fundamental steps for the understanding of the work that will be carried out with reference to the company. The financial statement ratios are divided according to the type of information that the mathematical relationship gives us. The main groups of ratios concern the analysis of the capital structure, financial autonomy and debt sustainability, liquidity, profitability and cash flows for the period.
The thesis was then developed with the presentation of plasma-derived medicines, where it is explained what they are and what are the different products made by companies and requested by the market. Based on the data available, considerations have been made regarding the trend in demand for these products over the past few years. With reference to the plasma collected on the national territory, the companies were identified which, after obtaining the authorization of the competent body and having entered into agreements with the Regions, deal with the fractionation of plasma and the production of plasma-derived medicines in Italy. The second chapter also presents Kedrion S.p.A., the company being analyzed, of which historical notes of its growth, situation and relevant facts relating to the two-year period in question are reported. In addition to this, a paragraph of this chapter focuses on the national and European regulatory framework relating to the marketing of medicinal products derived from human blood or plasma. Stated the impact of the recent SARS-CoV2 pandemic (responsible for Covid-19) on the world economy, the negative effects recorded by companies in the plasma-derived sector in carrying out their operational activities are illustrated, which consequently reflect on the balance sheet’s values and calculated ratios.
Finally, the third chapter is dedicated to the practical analysis of the Kedrion’s financial statements (2019/2020), using the previously chosen ratios and comparing the results obtained with the data reported by other companies in the sector. At first, some considerations on the consolidated financial statements are presented and the analysis is of a temporal type only, so it focuses on the significant changes in Kedrion's results between the two years, with the aim of identifying them and trying to provide an adequate explanation in relation to the differences in value found. Subsequently, the analysis is also carried out “in space”, comparing the values of the ratios of the company with those of some of the competitors described above that currently also operate on the Italian territory, namely Octapharma AG and Grifols, for the same reference years. The considerations relating to the ratios and the judgments assigned, in the role of an analyst external to the company, with reference to the past and prospective performance of the company, constitute the central and final part of the thesis.
