This thesis proposes a study about Waste Heat Recovery for vehicle application through an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) which allows for the conversion of a diesel engine’s flue gas heat into mechanical power.<br>The thermodynamic cycle is optimized in the design point in order to obtain the maximum ORC system mechanical power with a particular fluid and thermal source temperature.<br>The heat exchangers are designed, the global heat transfer coefficients and the total heat transfer areas required by the thermal power flows are determined.<br>The data obtained are used as inputs in a model of the system (Vehicle + ORC) realized in Modelica language in order to simulate the off-design operation.<br>Eventually, an economic analysis allows to evaluate the fuel saving in relation to the initial investment costs and the feasibility of the system.<br>
