This thesis work was carried out at the company Vitesco Technologies S.r.l. at the headquarters of San Piero a Grado (PI) at the Reliability Lab. The company operates in the automotive sector worldwide, producing injectors, fuel rails and other components. The goal is to redesign the RDU returns analysis process following lean thinking logic. After describing and measuring the performance of the process, the capacity of the resources involved was analyzed to identify queues. To reduce them the Reliability Lab, responsible for the analysis, will send the test schedule at the beginning of the process, allowing the RDU Testing department to plan the machine loads in advance. The logistics of the process were analyzed and transport between the plants was reduced by sharing the report of the tests carried out in Fauglia and the installation of a gas appliance leak detector in the RDU Testing department. The other goal of the project is the improvement of the laboratory database through the union of the product-origin lists. A methodology was described and applied to the XL3 and XL5 field and factory lists showing the results obtained.
