Riassunto
This work presents a mathematical model of a system powered by a commercial fuel cell.
The model was validated using a Horizon H-500XP model fuel cell stack system, with the following components: a 600 W PEM fuel cell, a 13,5 DC volt battery for the start-up and a 48 V DC/DC boost converter. In addition, the generated power is dissipated by a variable resistive load.
The presented model is developed using MATLAB Simulink and it uses both mathematical equations and electrical circuit.
The model simulates the performance of the fuel cell system, controlled by the variation of the external circuit and it is successfully validated under steady state conditions. The results from the model show a qualitative agreement with test bench results, with similar trends for stack current and voltage in response to the resistive load variation.
The PEM fuel cell modelling techniques, their control and their use in vehicle propulsion systems is investigated in a literature review.
