La provincia di Modena, negli ultimi decenni del 1900, è stata caratterizzata da una forte crescita economica che ha portato alla nascita di un grande flusso migratorio proveniente dai paesi stranieri. Attraverso lo studio di materiale archivistico, statistico, bibliografico ed interviste dirette si è analizzato questo fenomeno approfondendo, nel primo capitolo, la situazione storica, economica e sociale dell'Emilia Romagna e della provincia di Modena dalla fine del secondo conflitto mondiale fino alla fine degli anni '90 mettendo in luce il cambiamento che ha reso queste zone ricche trasformandole da territori di emigrazione a territori di immigrazione. Successivamente, nel secondo capitolo, si è posto l'accento sul protagonista del lavoro cioè l'immigrato, analizzando le sue generalità e i problemi che ha dovuto affrontare in seguito al trasferimento in un nuovo paese. Nel terzo capitolo si è ricostruito l'apporto dato dai singoli enti, sia pubblici che privati, all'emergenza e all'integrazione dell'immigrato analizzando il lavoro svolto dalla Consulta Regionale, dalla Consulta Provinciale, dal Comune, dai Sindacati ed infine dalle varie associazioni. Nel quarto e ultimo capitolo si riportano le interviste fatte a due persone che hanno contribuito all'inserimento e alla valorizzazione dell'immigrato. Lo scopo del lavoro è stato quello di restituire, nella maniera più dettagliata possibile, l'evoluzione di un fenomeno che tutt'oggi interessa il nostro Paese.

The province of Modena, in the last decades of the 1900s, was characterized by strong economic growth which led to the birth of a large migratory flow from foreign countries. Through the study of archival, statistical, bibliographic material and direct interviews this phenomenon was analyzed by deepening, in the first chapter, the historical, economic and social situation of Emilia Romagna and the province of Modena from the end of the Second World War to the end of the 90s highlighting the change that made these areas rich by transforming them from emigration territories to immigration territories. Subsequently, in the second chapter, the emphasis was placed on the protagonist of the work that is the immigrant, analyzing his general information and the problems he had to face following the transfer to a new country. In the third chapter, the contribution given by individual entities, both public and private, to the emergency and integration of immigrants was reconstructed by analyzing the work carried out by the Regional Council, the Provincial Council, the Municipality, the Unions and finally by the various associations. The fourth and last chapter reports the interviews made with two people who contributed to the integration and enhancement of the immigrant. The aim of the work was to report, in the most detailed way possible, the evolution of a phenomenon that still affects our country today.
