In questo elaborato sono state prima descritte le caratteristiche generali della traduzione audiovisiva, con particolare attenzione alla sottotitolazione e all'impiego nella didattica. Successivamente, si è accennato alla variazione linguistica e alle sue dimensioni, in particolare in riferimento alla traduzione audiovisiva e all'ambito dello slang, del linguaggio giovanile, del turpiloquio, del dark humour e della formalità e cortesia. Infine, è stata proposta una sottotitolazione per i due episodi, analizzando le espressioni più degne di nota e istituendo un confronto con la traduzione proposta da studenti e studentesse del Liceo Carducci di Pisa.

This masterthesis first described the general characteristics of audiovisual translation, with particular attention to subtitling and its use in the didactic field. Moreover, linguistic variation and its dimensions have been mentioned, with particular reference to audiovisual translation and the areas of slang, teen talk, bad language, dark humour, formality, and politeness. In the end, two episodes of two different TV shows have been subtitled, analysing the most noteworthy expressions and establishing a comparison with the translation proposed by the students of the Liceo Carducci in Pisa.
