Summary
BAG3 is a co-chaperone protein involved in the proliferation and maturation of B lymphocytes, so much so that its role has been demonstrated in the pathogenetic mechanisms of leukemias and B-cell lymphomas. It has therefore been hypothesized that it plays a role also in the pathogenesis and clinical featrures of chronic inflammatory diseases of rheumatological interest, in particular in primary Sjögren’s Syndrome (pSS). The aim of this study was to analyze the expression and role of BAG3 in pSS. The expression of the molecule was then evaluated in serum and in histological samples of patients with MALT lymphoma of the parotid.
