Riassunto
All theories on leadership styles have a common goal to provide an insight on effective leadership which will enhance employees performance, commitment and job satisfaction.
These theoretical approaches, except Trait theory of leadership, concentrate their attention on the behaviour of the leader. Every theory on charismatic/transformational, transactional or authentic leadership individuates and attributes to a leader a different set of possible actions with which he can influence the motivation of his employees.
Firstly, the thesis examines existing scientific articles in the field of leadership studies and provides the explanation of major leadership theories. It consists, besides others, of the analysis of the leadership styles regarding the necessary skills and knowledge of an effective leader.
Secondly, the attention is shifted on the leadership model adopted by Faculty of Economics in Bochum (Germany). This model of leadership is confronted with leadership styles adopted by leaders on Faculty of Economics in Pisa. Analysis has the form of research with questionnaires submitted to professors and assistants, researchers and PhD.students on the other side.
The goal of the work is to compare these two leadership approaches and suggest possibilities of integration among them.
