Riassunto
The aim of this thesis is the design and implementation of an in situ bioprinting platform based on the open source robotic arm BCN3D Moveo, able to print material by extrusion in a controlled way and keeping the printing nozzle always perpendicular to the surface, adapting the printing pattern to the surface curvature. The project involves the research center E. Piaggio of the University of Pisa and the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey and comes from the need to develop a biofabrication system to create scaffolds for muscle tissue models.
Starting from a previous work, a new control system based on LinuxCNC has been introduced and hardware upgrades have been designed and implemented to obtain greater precision and reliability. An Matlab app was then developed to manage all the phases of the process and preliminary tests were conducted to obtain an estimation of the resolution, repeatability and ability of the system to carry out bioprinting procedures on complex surfaces.
