La tesi ha come obiettivo il confronto fra il testo di Emilio Salgari "La città dell'oro" e il testo di Alexander Von Humboldt "Viaggio alle Regioni Equinoziali del Nuovo Continente"; lo scrittore veronese attinse materiale per la stesura dei suoi romanzi da biblioteche, riviste ma anche dalla grande esplorazione che fece il giovane geografo prussiano nel Sud America. Humboldt descrive tutto ciò che incontra, dai fiumi alle specie animali e vegetali alle popolazioni Indios presenti nel territorio. Grande spazio dedica alla risalita del fiume Orinoco e a tutti i pericoli che incontra per arrivare sulla vetta del monte Chimborazo. Nell'ultima parte invece ho proposto un esempio di lezione interdisciplinare (italiano e geografia) partendo dal testo Salgariano, analizzando alcuni passi importanti dal punto di vista didattico e geografico.

The thesis begins with the comparison between the text by Emilio Salgari "The city of gold" and the text by Alexander Von Humboldt "Journey to the Equinox Regions of the New Continent"; the Veronese writer drew material for the writing of his novels from libraries, magazines but also from the great exploration that the young Prussian geographer made in South America. Humboldt describes everything he encounters, from rivers to animal and plant species to the Indian populations in the area. A large space is dedicated to the ascent of the Orinoco River and to all the dangers it encounters to reach the summit of Mount Chimborazo. In the last part I proposed an example of an interdisciplinary lesson (Italian and geography) starting from the Salgarian text, analyzing some important steps from a didactic and geographical point of view.
