Summary
This study investigated the actions of trade unions in improving working conditions, increasing labor force, and increasing wages. In fact, those are targets of unions on the labor market. Trade unions are thought of as shifting the competitive labor supply curve to the left, which increases the equilibrium wage and provides well-being on working conditions for employees. The unions and their political and economic effect depend on their ability to attract and hold loyal members and to successfully represent their members’ interests in collective bargaining. Employees’ voices via trade unions and collective bargaining are not only substantial to labor rights but at the same time key labor market institutions that have been found to affect the performance of the labor market. Employees’ Voice Unions and Collective Bargaining are two institutions that take a key role in determining wage, benefits, and working conditions as well as employment, job quality, inequality, and other issues, and they might help to shape the evolving labor market in the age of globalization and digitalization. Therefore, it is important to understand which factors determine the extent of unionization and collective bargaining coverage as well as how these two measures of the power and voice of employees have changed over time.
