Summary
The article analyses how individuals characteristics in one year affect their probability of being in a particular labour market status in the following years. We estimate the parameters of different OLS and logistic models and then correct for selection bias via Heckmann procedure. We use data from SHIW survey (Bank of Italy) for years 2012, 2014, 2016 to focus on the effects of migration and skills on the labour force status. Indeed being unemployed lowers the re-employment probabilities in the subsequent years, and other personal characteristics as sex, age, marital status, education play a significant role in explaining individuals future labour status outcomes.
