Riassunto
Questa tesi descrive lo standard DVB-RCT. Per far ciò viene seguito un percorso logico suddiviso in tre punti:
il primo passo è quello di descrivere in maniera sintetica, ma completa, lo standard DVB-RCT così come è riportato nel documento della ETSI EN 301 958 V.1.1.1.
Il secondo passo è quello di esplorare brevemente la storia del processo di standardizzazione, mostrando il lavoro fatto dai primi gruppi di ricerca: iTTi ed Witness. Il loro lavoro ha portato alla nascita di un nuovo standard per la televisione interattiva digitale terrestre.
Il terzo passo è quello di descrivere il lavoro del gruppo Medea che ha come obiettivo quello di guidare la transizione dal processo di standardizzazione alla costruzione del primo hardware a livello commerciale, sia dal lato utente che dal lato stazione base, completamente compatibile con lo standard DVB-RCT.
-Abstract:
This thesis describes the DVB-RCT standard. This is achieved by following three logical steps:
the first one is to describe, in a synthetic but complete way, the DVB-RCT standard as it appears in the ETSI EN 301 958 V.1.1.1
The second one is to describe, briefly, the history of the standardization process by showing the great job done by the first research groups: ‘iTTi’, and the ‘Witness’ group. The hard working of these two groups ended up with the born of a brand new standard for the digital terrestrial interactive TV.
The third step is to describe the job done by the Medea group, which goal is to work on the transition from the standardization to the first fully DVB-RCT standard-compliant commercial hardware in both user (STB) and base station sides.
