Questo elaborato determina in primis il genere del romanzo Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead, mettendo poi a confronto la figura della detective Claire DeWitt con alcuni dei detective più famosi della letteratura. Successivamente, analizza il metodo d'indagine piuttosto singolare della donna, caratterizzato dai sogni e dalla consultazione dell'oracolo dell'I Ching. In questa parte si farà riferimento alle teorie oniriche di Sigmund Freud e alla teoria della sincronicità di Jung, quest'ultima fungerà da anello di congiunzione con l'oracolo e la sua consultazione. Dopo aver analizzato i sogni e gli esagrammi di Claire si passerà al commento traduttivo e alla presentazione delle strategie traduttive messe in pratica nella versione italiana ancora inedita.

This text primarily determines the genre of the novel Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead, then confronting Claire DeWitt with some of the most famous detectives of literature. Later, it analyzes the rather singular method of investigation used by the woman, characterized by dreams and consultation of the oracle of the I Ching. In this part we will refer to the dream theories of Sigmund Freud and the theory of synchronicity of Jung, the latter will act as a link with the oracle and its consultation. After analysing Claire’s dreams and hexagrams, we will move on to the translation commentary and presentation of the translation strategies put into practice in the Italian version still unpublished.
