Riassunto
From the comparison between the Zingarelli Italian dictionary 2010 print edition and the 2021 online version, a small specialized corpora consisting of 679 neologisms in usage from 1983 to 2020 was extracted.
Neologisms were inserted in a table annotated with:
1) lexicological information;
2) grammatical information;
3) the semantic fields of the Italian Semantic Tagger concocted by doctor Francesca Bianchi from the Department of Humanities of Salento University and professor Elena Semino of the Department of Linguistics and English Language of Lancaster University;
4) the usage labels featured in the definitions of the neologisms in both editions of the dictionary.
This paper shows the insertion of words that are lemmatized in the 2010 edition in sections of lemmas of root words devoted to the respective derivative words and polyrematics of the 2021 edition in order to keep its expanded list of entries in a number of pages that is not excessively superior to the first one.
First of all, the creation of the corpus is described; subsequently, the definitions of "neologism", "loanword", "adapted loanword" (distinguished between "phonological" and "morphhological adaptation", and "calque"), dialectism, jargon, semantic neologism and neoclassical formation are provided, pointing to internal and contact phenomena that are responsible for such neologisms.
Subsequently, the percentages of loanwords for each language are provided.
Finally, lemmas from both editions of the dictionary are compared in order to illustrate differences in the macrostructure and microstructure between the respective lemmaries.
