This thesis consists of the translation of the novel by the Genevan author Yves Patrick Delachaux, named Déroute. The novel was published in 2013 and never translated into Italian. It’s about the narration, in an autobiographical way, of a travel experience made by the author during the drafting of a novel still to be completed. The novel reveals the work’s stages of conception and difficulties of development. The translation is followed by a linguistic and translation commentary, which illustrates the difficulties encountered during the process, due both to the differences between French and Italian and to the literary peculiarities of the novel. Then the strategies adopted to overcome the difficulties are explained with examples.
