Riassunto
In questo elaborato è stata effettuata un'indagine sugli effetti d'interferenza aerodinamica tra due imbarcazioni a vela della tipologia AC75. Lo studio è stato compiuto tramite analisi CFD: in particolare sono stati adoperati i software ANSA, per la preparazione delle geometrie e della mesh, e STARCCM+ per la simulazione fluidodinamica. Per quanto riguarda la configurazione delle due imbarcazioni nelle simulazioni, si è deciso di partire da quella in cui sono allineate, per poi ruotare di dieci gradi la barca inseguitrice rispetto a quella davanti; questa rotazione è stata ripetuta fino a coprire l'intera circonferenza per avere così un quadro completo. Successivamente, sono stati analizzati i dati prodotti dalla simulazione in STARCCM+ riguardo a forze e momenti sui 3 assi, e i relativi coefficienti. Infine questi sono stati trasposti in tabelle e grafici su Excel per confrontare i dati delle due barche, così da evidenziare gli effetti d'interferenza aerodinamica al variare delle loro posizioni.
In this paper, an investigation was carried out on the effects of aerodynamic interference between two sailing boats of the AC75 type. The study was carried out through CFD analysis: in particular, ANSA software was used, for the preparation of the geometries and the mesh, and STARCCM + for the fluid dynamics simulation. As regards the configuration of the two boats in the simulations, it was decided to start from the one in which they are aligned, and then rotate the following boat ten degrees with respect to the one in front; this rotation was repeated until the entire circumference was covered in order to have a complete picture. Subsequently, the data produced by the simulation in STARCCM + regarding forces and moments on the 3 axes, and the relative coefficients were analyzed. Finally these were transposed into tables and graphs on Excel to compare the data of the two boats, so as to highlight the effects of aerodynamic interference as their positions vary
