Questo lavoro di tesi è finalizzato alla presentazione della scrittrice e drammaturga russo-tedesca Sasha Marianna Salzmann, con particolare attenzione a uno dei temi che costituiscono il filo rosso della sua intera produzione letteraria: la ricerca di un’identità individuale e la formazione di un’identità ibrida. L’analisi di questo tema, verso cui l’autrice è particolarmente sensibile in quanto ebrea russa trasferitasi in Germania e appartenente alla comunità queer come persona che si definisce non-binaria, avverrà attraverso lo studio delle sue opere, in particolare della pièce teatrale Wir Zöpfe, per la quale verranno forniti testo e traduzione in italiano con commento, ma anche attraverso uno studio approfondito delle identità ebraica e di genere nel panorama socio-culturale contemporaneo, con attenzione al pensiero politico di Salzmann. In questo modo, si dimostrerà da un lato il cambiamento avvenuto nel corso del tempo della percezione di cosa significa essere ebreo e della rielaborazione del peso della memoria collettiva; dall’altro l’arbitrarietà della distinzione dicotomica tra uomo/donna basata esclusivamente sul sesso biologico. Rovesciati i punti di vista tradizionali, si vedrà come le identità ibride siano ormai le identità che più si confanno a un mondo contemporaneo transculturale e altamente globalizzato.

The aim of this thesis is to introduce the Russian-German writer and playwright Sasha Marianna Salzmann, with particular attention to one of the themes that constitute the thread of her whole literary production: the search for an individual identity and the formation of a hybrid identity. The analysis of this theme, toward which the author is particularly sensitive as a Russian Jew moved to Germany and belonging to the queer community as a non-binary person, will be carried out through the study of her works, which specific regard to the play Wir Zöpfe, which will be provided with the German text and the Italian translation, and also with commentary on translation. Identities will be studied also through an in-depth study of Jewish and gender identities in the contemporary socio-cultural landscape, with attention to Salzmann’s political thinking. In doing so, I will show the change that has occurred over time in the perception of what it means to be Jewish and in the reworking of the weight of collective memory; on the other, I will demonstrate the arbitrariness of the dichotomous distinction between man/woman exclusively based on biological sex. Once overturned the traditional points of view, it will be shown that nowadays hybrid identities are the ones that best fit a contemporary, cross-cultural and highly globalized world.
