Summary
The aims of this thesis, done in partnership with Piaggio Group, are the characterization of the behavior of the Roll-Lock System of the Piaggio MP3 scooter and the development of alternative arrangements capable to reduce the cost.
During the first phase of the work a mathematical model of the system was created and simulated in Simulink environment.
A set of experimental tests has been made by the Mechanical Laboratory of Piaggio on the real system with the purpose of validate the mathematical model and obtain information about the lifespan of the system components.
After that some alternative systems, capable of doing the same function, has been created.
After a first evaluation of the proposed alternatives with the mechanical, the electrical and the cost analysis division it was decided to detail three of them.
For these solutions the CAD design was developed and they have been transferred to the cost analysis division with the idea of prototype them.
