Summary
This thesis deals with the statistical description of the El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) through the Recharge Oscillator Model with a Correlated Additive Multiplicative noise using the Unified ENSO Proxy as dataset. As first we obtained the Unified ENSO Proxy from proxy data related to ENSO using the Principal Component Analysis, then we used this dataset to estimate the fundamental parameters of the model.
At the end we show how the model is able to describe the ENSO phenomenon changing during the years because of the increase of the ocean-atmosphere coupling.
