This thesis develops from the evidence that, thanks to new information and communication technologies, we are experiencing a real revolution that will modify every aspect of our lives.
In the first part of the elaborate, the main changes operated by new information and communication technologies on humans, both at cognitive and social level, will be analyzed.
In particular, through the studies of Micheal Merzenich, Nicholas George Carr e Manfred Spitzer it will be brought to evidence how our brain is constantly modified because of the use of these new technologies. After that, it is necessary to understand how the use of internet can influence the way in which we learn, how we develop ideas, thoughts and beliefs and how this can affect the society in which we live. The core part of this work will focus on how the world of the youngest boys and girls is changing due to the use of these technologies; this discussion is in fact necessary not only because of the increasing use of such technologies within the schools, but also because the contact with these tech is always more and more frequent and early. What emerges is that as far as Internet and the new communication and information technologies represents significant opportunities for future generations, it is also true that these instruments may hide great risks. Therefore, the solution to cover the existing gap between opportunities and risks when it come to use such technologies will be a digital literacy. The last chapter of the thesis, along with the questionnaire, will focus on the digital skills and their development, taking into account that the school is the preferred place for such growth.
More specifically, the main objective of the survey was to understand what really happens within Italian schools regarding digital skills both on a theoretical and concrete level, and the use of Internet.
