Summary
This work is aimed at presenting the research activities carried out during my PhD studies from January 2005 to December 2007, which have been mainly focused on antenna design techniques for advanced wireless/mobile communication systems (Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, GSM/UMTS). This thesis is made of 4 chapters. CHAPTER 1 describes the design of dual band balanced antennas for WLAN applications. CHAPTER 2 is about the design of array antennas for WiMAX base stations and dual technology UMTS/WiMAX base stations. CHAPTER 3 presents the project of a near field focused microstrip array for a GSM hot-spot application. CHAPTER 4 is an appendix to the main topic of the thesis work and will present some work on hybrid analytical-numerical techniques for antenna analysis.
