In questa ricerca, al fine di analizzare l’influenza dei social media sulle dinamiche della comunicazione politica in una realtà locale, sono stati applicati nel caso delle elezioni amministrative del 2019 a Livorno, le teorie, gli strumenti e le metodologie legate allo studio dei social network nelle campagne elettorali. A questo titolo sono state analizzate le competenze digitali, il contesto socio-politico di Livorno e la competizione elettorale, con particolare riguardo ai flussi di voto. Durante il periodo elettorale è stato utilizzato un software per estrarre i dati relativi alle attività dei quattro candidati sindaco e dei principali partiti a loro sostegno da Facebook, Twitter e Instagram; questi dati sono stati analizzati, per cercare di delineare gli stili comunicativi dei candidati e dei partiti.
In this research, in order to analyze the influence of social media on the dynamics of political communication in a local reality, were applied, in the case of the 2019 administrative elections in Livorno, the set of theories, tools and methodologies related to the study of social networks in election campaigns. For this reason were analyzed digital skills, the socio-political context of Livorno and the electoral competition, with particular regard to vote streams. During the election period, a software was used to extract data relating to the activities of the four mayor candidates and the main parties supporting them from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; these data were analyzed trying to outline the communication styles of the candidates and parties.
