Riassunto
A model for the helicopter main rotor downwash is developed. The goal is
to have an evaluation both of the tailboom empennage forces in variation of
the helicopter speed and of the mast moment. In doing that is necessary to
compute the velocity in every wake point accounting for the contraction factor, to
discretize the empennages, to compute the tailboom polar by means of CFD
and to linearize the forces and the velocity, in order to avoid problems in the
trim computation. Existing trimmed full helicopter CFD simulation results
support the results given by the new model development and give the data for
validation and for the necessary tuning, together with experimental data.
