Riassunto
This work represents the development of an expert system starting from a prototype expert system previously realized with the possibility of automatic extraction of features for the reprogramming of Artificial Vision systems with the prospect of also used by inexperienced operators. This system was achieved thanks to the collaboration of GKN Driveline Florence with the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering (DICI) of the University of Pisa.
The rapid introduction of new products has led the automotive industries, including GKN, to reduce the time to develop and design mechanical components and the insertion of changes to existing products, and in this regard GKN has undertaken the testing of new software.
After considering the state-of-the-art of computer vision systems and their components, we focused on developing a quick and simple software so that the operator can perform a quality check on the various semi-finished pieces in a way that fast and efficient.
We analyzed the various CAPP systems that allow the transition between CAD systems, which represent the design phase, and CAM systems, corresponding to the production phase, trying to understand if it was possible to interface the expert software with the CAD software to extrapolate all the geometric features useful for recognition, the design of the mechanical piece to set the analysis tools.
After the development of this software we began a trial of its applicability and the possibility of interfacing it with CAD software for extracting features from CAD models that is still ongoing.
