In this Master thesis a 180 180mmx80mmx1.6mm MIMO system is analyzed. This system consists of 4 radiant elements positioned on a rectangular FR-4 PCB. There is a strong coupling problem in the [0.617-0.96] GHz band between the nearest antennas, and we designed a network in order to solve it. In literature we found lots of solutions and we decided to group them into 3 groups: Self-Decoupled Antennas, Decoupling Networks with Neutralization Lines and slots, and Decoupling Networks with Lumped Elements. The first ones work in frequency ranges that are too high compared to the ones we need, even though they are compact because they don’t need to introduce external networks; the second ones solve the problem but only in narrow band; the latter, if appropiately sized, can increase the isolation parameter. Consequently, it was chosen to use an RLC-π Decoupling Network. After the insertion of the decoupling network, there is a clear improvement in isolation: the S21 parameter drops by about -10 dB across the sub-1GHz band without worsening its performance at higher frequencies.
