Summary
The subject of the present thesis is the design of the main landing gear of an innovative
aircraft in the framework of the PARSIFAL project.
The aim is the definition of a landing gear configuration satisfying all specific requirements
of a future PrandtlPlane civil transport aircraft, including the introduction
of electromechanical actuation.
The design methodology adopted makes use of dynamic modelling and multibody
simulation from the very first stages, with the aim of providing efficient and reliable
tools for a preliminary sizing, and early evaluation of performances and dynamic loads.
Simulations are carried out by integrating a commercial multibody code and specifically
developed dynamic models of aircraft and systems.
The results obtained will allow to easily adapt the landing gear to the final configurations
and weights of the aircraft. In addition, the models and tools developed
in this work can be used for the evaluation of ground loads to be considered in the
airframe structural design, and for takeoff and landing simulations when designing the
flight control system.
