Il presente elaborato si compone di tre capitoli. Entrando nello specifico, il primo narra le principali vicende avvenute nell'Unione Sovietica dalla fine di Stalin fino ai grandi cambiamenti introdotti dalla perestrojka di Gorbaciov e dai rapporti intrattenuti da Eltsin con le democrazie occidentali. Il capitolo termina con una panoramica su uno scenario politico instabile e mostra i passaggi che hanno portato le varie repubbliche ex-sovietiche a dichiararsi indipendenti, dando avvio alla dissoluzione dell'URSS. Il secondo capitolo si concentra sull'ascesa al potere del presidente Vladimir Putin e la sua politica antidemocratica. Presidente forte e risoluto, forgiato da una rigida carriera militare presso il KGB russo, spesso discusso per il suo governo dispotico e repressivo nei confronti dei suoi oppositori. Nell'ultima parte del capitolo vengono esaminati i recenti rapporti tra Russia e Ucraina e l'escalation che ha portato nel 2014 all'invasione della Crimea e nel 2022 alla guerra per la presa del Donbass. Il terzo ed ultimo capitolo, cuore della tesi, si allaccia agli ultimi eventi esaminati precedentemente, per analizzare le conseguenze e l'impatto che ha avuto la guerra in Ucraina sulle economie mondiali e sul turismo internazionale. Vengono prese ad esame le sanzioni imposte dalla Comunità Europea alla Russia, l'aumento dei costi di materie prime e fonti energetiche come gas e petrolio, le problematiche relative alle no flight zones con conseguente cambio di rotte per le compagnie aeree. L'elaborato termina con un focus sul settore turistico dove vengono riportate stime e statistiche che mostrano i cambiamenti avvenuti nel settore negli ultimi anni, con una panoramica sul 2022 e 2023.

This paper consists of three chapters. Specifically, the first narrates the main events that took place in the Soviet Union from the end of Stalin to the great changes introduced by Gorbachev's perestroika and Yeltsin's relations with Western democracies. The chapter ends with an overview of an unstable political scenario and shows the steps that led the various ex-Soviet republics to declare themselves independent, initiating the dissolution of the USSR. The second chapter focuses on President Vladimir Putin's rise to power and his anti-democratic politics. Strong and resolute President, forged by a rigid military career at the russian KGB, often discussed for its despotic and repressive government against its opponents. The last part of the chapter examines the recent relations between Russia and Ukraine and the escalation that led to the invasion of Crimea in 2014 and the war for the capture of Donbass in 2022. The third and final chapter, the heart of the thesis, is linked to the last events examined previously, to analyze the consequences and the impact that the war in Ukraine had on world economies and international tourism. The sanctions imposed by the European Community on Russia, the increase in the costs of raw materials and energy sources such as gas and oil, the problems related to no flight zones with consequent change of routes for airlines are examined. The paper ends with a focus on the tourism sector where estimates and statistics are reported showing the changes that have occurred in the sector in recent years, with an overview of 2022 and 2023.
