The “cost engineering” tools for supporting the “Make or Buy analysis” of a battery power system.

The object of the thesis concerns the evaluation of the “should cost” of a battery power system – which is currently bought from a Chinese supplier – with respect to the hypothetical production in-house.

In parallel with the activity introduced above, the project “should cost 80V” had the target of strengthening the “cost engineering” tools of the company through the construction of “cost simulators”, able to provide an estimate of some cost items present in the production of the majority of the company’s products.

The paper concludes with a series of studies and assessments for supporting the team in the “Make or Buy decision” and with the introduction of new cost engineering tools in the company know-how.
