Summary
Ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve block with chloroprocaine in pediatric population is an effective and safe method of providing anesthesia and postoperative analgesia in infants and children with multiple advantages over systemic medications and decreased exposure to volatile anesthetics and the use of opioids.
Chloroprocaine is an amino ester, ultra short acting local anesthetic agent, which is rapidly metabolized in plasma by cholinesterases at all ages and it is perfect for procedure which duration is less than 60 minutes and with a low post operative pain, for example "Calcaneo stop" surgery and inguinal hernia repair surgery.
