La presente tesi si inserisce in un più ampio lavoro di riapertura degli studi sul sito di Pontecosi (Pieve Fosciana, Lucca), che fu oggetto di ricognizioni e campagne di scavo tra il 1998 e il 2000. L’obiettivo è l’analisi spaziale dei reperti litici tramite il software QGIS, per aiutare nella comprensione delle dinamiche di popolamento del sito. Il lavoro è stato suddiviso in tre fasi. Nella prima sono state digitalizzate le coordinate dei reperti rinvenuti nel corso degli scavi. Nella seconda sono state analizzate le concentrazioni dei ritrovamenti tramite Kernel Density Estimation. Nella terza è stata studiata la dispersione dei rimontaggi nell’area di scavo.

This thesis is part of a larger research project aimed at a review of the site of Pontecosi (Pieve Fosciana, Lucca), which has been the object of surveys and excavations between 1998 e 2000. The object is the spatial analysis of the lithic industries using the software QGIS, in order to aid in the understanding the settlement dynamics of the site. The work has been divided into three parts. During the first one, the coordinates of the artefacts found during the excavation have been digitalised. During the second, the clusters of findings have been analysed using Kernel Density Estimation. During the third, the dispersion of refits in the site has been studied.
