Summary
This work aims to identify some aspects of veganism intended as a possible “multiple” response to a great variety of current large-scale challenges, including the battle against the effects of climate change at its very top. These include the respect for the environment, expressed in various forms, such as reducing consumption of meat and intensive farming, seen as a minimum precondition for the battle against the climate change in progress, respect for green repopulation, respect for individual health and respect for the ethics of food as a response to the dramatic extent of its waste.
In particular, in this work I attempted to think to “veganism” as a critical transition process in individuals’ lifetime. Consistently, I first reviewed the relevant scientific literature of reference. Second, I developed a questionnaire on eating habits and lifestyles specifically designed to investigate the age-time course and the determinants of the transition to (and the loss of) veganism.
