Abstract (Inglese)
Abstract (Italiano)
The performance of men and women in the labour market has converged enormously in the last decades, in terms of both relative earnings and labour force participation; but still, big differences persist. This study analyse the gender wage gap by occupation for the European labour market. I order to understand why the penalty of being a woman differs so greatly by occupation, I will test the hypothesis that occupations that are gender friendly are also those with a lower elasticity of earnings to the time spent working.
