La tesi si pone come obiettivo l'analisi dello sfruttamento, in età romana, delle aree rurali delle province Germania Inferior e Germania Superior. Nell'elaborato si cerca di tracciare un profilo delle quattro regioni in cui, sulla base delle caratteristiche geologiche, è stata divisa l'area d'indagine. Ne emerge una complessa rappresentazione delle dinamiche relazioni tra città e campagne circostanti, organizzate razionalmente per cercare di trarre il maggior profitto dalle risorse che il territorio metteva a disposizione.

This work aims to analyse the roman exploitation of the rural areas in the provinces Germania Inferior and Germania Superior. I will try to trace a profile of the four regions in which, basing on geological features, the studied area has been divided. The result is the complex representation of the dynamic relationships between cities and countryside around them, rationally organised to get the best resources that the land was offering.
