Summary
Nowadays is very important, both for money saving and for users comfort, to have a clear and trustworthy view about roads structural/function condition.
In this Master Degree thesis the relation between surface and structural condition of pave-ments has been analyzed.
Road Inspection have been conducted in Denmark and Italy through using high performance equipment, like Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), GPR (Ground Penetration Radar for thicknesses), MFV (multifunctional vehicle equipped with cameras) and RAPTOR (Rapid Pavement Tester).
RAPTOR in particular, is an high speed screening device that allows to inspect road condition by driving at usual speed (60-80 Km/h), appearing as a truck with a trailer.
It has been developed and manufactured by Dynatest, DTU-Technical University of Denmark and University of Pisa.
In the present research activity this equipment has been used to have a continuous overview of the structural condition of the pavement. Results show where the structural capacity is found to be reduced, also the surface condition is found to show damages.
