La ricerca si pone l’obiettivo di indagare le scelte iconografiche dell’arte figurativa dei Gesuati in Toscana e di inserirle all’interno di una più ampia indagine sulla evoluzione della congregazione dal XV secolo fino al 1668, anno della soppressione. Attraverso le specifiche scelte iconografiche è possibile ripercorrere le modalità di inserimento dei Gesuati nella vita religiosa di città toscane come Firenze, Pistoia, Lucca, Pisa e di territori come quello delle colline livornesi e in generale di osservare quale tipo di immagine la congregazione volesse proporre dei propri fondatori e delle proprie scelte religiose. Si analizzeranno quindi le iconografie di tutte le opere che è stato possibile rinvenire per tentare di gettare luce sulle complesse vicende che interessarono i Gesuati. /
The research aims to investigate the iconographic choices of the figurative art of the Gesuati in Tuscany and to include them within a broader investigation of the evolution of the congregation from the 15th century to 1668, the year of its suppression. Through the specific iconographic choices it is possible to retrace the modalities of insertion of the Gesuati in the religious life of Tuscan cities such as Florence, Pistoia, Lucca, Pisa and territories such as that of the Livorno hills and in general to observe what type of image the congregation wanted to propose of their own founders and their own religious choices. The iconographies of all the works that could be found will then be analysed in an attempt to shed light on the complex events that affected the Gesuati.
