Riassunto analitico
The work is aimed at identifying design and optimization criteria for hydrogen utilization devices through advanced CFD tools, validated against experimental campaigns. Laboratory and industrial scale burners have been investigated both experimentally and numerically. Particular attention has been paid to the relevance of the combustion model to properly predict flameless combustion regime and to the kinetic mechanism in order to obtain a prediction of the NO emissions in good agreement with experimental data over a large set of operating conditions with different hydrogen mass fraction in fuel and air excess.
