Summary
The aim of the present work is to describe the process of designing an UWB sensor circuits for byomedical application. This specic case concerns the realization of the receiver stage of a pulse radar, targeted to measure heart
rate parameters. As in many UWB communications or ranging systems (e.g. CDMA systems), this receiver front end is made up of a LNA (Low Noise
Amplier) and a subsequent correlator and integrator. The role of the LNA is to amplify the incoming signal without increasing too much the noise gure of the receiver, while the correlator exploits the crucial task of checking whether the received signal is synchronized with an on-chip generated pulse or not.
The capability to perform this task with suffcient accuracy is crucial for an UWB pulse radar.
