Summary
Of late, education has been the center of attraction for governments, firms and workers who wants to boost their productivity level. Whilst workers in the developed countries have been successful in this attempt; those in the developing countries are still struggling due to some inherent problems.
The main purpose of this work has been to investigate the impact of level of education on workers’ productivity in Sub- Saharan Africa. In this research, an appreciable number of skilled and unskilled workers were interviewed using structured questionnaire. The usage of secondary data was adhered to as well. As a matter of fact, probability sampling techniques were used to select the workers and the data obtained was meticulously analyzed using computer software such as Microsoft excel and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and R statistical package.
The study was a broad survey of skilled and unskilled workers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Our analysis showed that education (workers level of education) and work experience are the main determinants of workers’ productivity. Meanwhile, it was found out that a worker’s productivity decreases as he or she advances in age.
Conclusion was being made that education had a positive impact on workers’ productivity but the magnitude of this impact is relatively small as compared to the major works conducted in the advanced countries.
