Summary
Thermoluminescent analisys were conducted on crystals of Thermalox® 995, a Beryllium Oxide ceramic, in order to evaluate the major thermoluminescent parameters. Extensive studies on the theoretical background on how luminescence works, was performed, with the aim of developing a code for glow curve deconvolution and background evaluation. The code able to perform such a task, and which returns all the thermoluminescent parameters was developed, thanks to the programming platform MATLAB, from Mathworks, and was used to evaluate the dose response function of the dosimetric traps of Thermalox® 995. The results were compared with those obtained by the software GlowFit. Thanks to the data obtained, a readout procedure is proposed with the purpose of creating a dosimeter able to distinguish the gamma and neutron doses produced in a complex radiation field, such as those of nuclear reactors and accelerators for the Boron-capture Neutron therapy (BCNT).
