Summary
The principal aim of the thesis is to carry out the first analytical study of the Caesar portrait exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth (inv. S 2771). The typological and stylistic examination of the piece will be followed by a contextualization of the portrait both in terms of display and, more in general, in relation to Caesar portraiture. For the first time, the influence of Caesar image on the late-republican Greek portraiture will be highlighted. Widening the perspective, the relationship between the Dictator and Greece will be considered, collecting all relevant artistic, literary and epigraphic evidence.
