Abstract (Inglese)
Abstract (Italiano)

This MSc Thesis deals with the development of a simulator of hybrid-electric propulsion systems for lightweight fixed-wing UAVs, using as reference the "Rapier X-25" UAV manufactured by Sky Eye Systems (Italy). The simulator, entirely developed in the MATLAB-Simulink-Stateflow environment, is initially validated with flight data and then employed for evaluating the feasibility of the hybrid propulsion, by applying power management strategies that, at the same fuel consumption, enhance the UAV performances in climb phase and avoid the overheating of the main system components (internal combustion engine, electric machine and batteries)
