Abstract (Inglese)
Abstract (Italiano)
The main goal was to find under which condition the tangential and normal rotodynamic force components exhibit unstable situations. Effects of different whirl ratios, tip clearances, temperatures and flow coefficients have been analyzed separately. Also cavitating and non-cavitating conditions have been exploited for different cavitation numbers. It has been found that the rotodynamic forces are proportional to the eccentricity which validates the linear formulation implicitly used for rotodynamic matrix. Another main feature was to find whether the “continuous whirl ratio changing tests” validate the “discrete whirl ratio changing tests” and it has been found that though data optimizations in continuous tests may seem to be tedious yet quite time saving and the results show similar trends as expected.
