Summary
During the XIV Century economical, social and demographical changes affected the pisan and the tuscanian history. The cities became even more attractive for those families which were originary from the rural areas and had capitals investible in commerce. This works reconstructs the history of the Ciampolini family from San Gimignano; its members were able to build commercial and social relationships which allowed them to be among the key-characters of the economical and political pisan life during the last decades before the florentine conquest.
