Summary
Background: Bioresorption of bioresorbable vascular scaffold (BVS) may lead to late coronary lumen enlargement through positive vessel remodelling. We aimed to investigate with serial intracoronary imaging the interaction between BVS and coronary artery wall in patients with complex coronary lesions.
Methods: We performed optical coherence tomography (OCT) two years after BVS implantation in patients with baseline and postprocedural OCT or intravascular ultrasound imaging. The change in scaffold diameter at the proximal and distal radiopaque markers was measured. We also assessed abluminal scaffold area, coronary flow area, and neointimal area with OCT, and minimum lumen diameter (MLD) and late lumen loss (LLL) with quantitative coronary angiography.
