Abstract (Inglese)
Abstract (Italiano)
In this thesis is presented the development of the firmware of the novel optical underwater wireless modem designed and assembled in the OptoCOMM project. The firmware concerns the definition of the user-interface (UI), which has to be fully integrated with SUNSET framework. Also, the optical communication protocol is implemented in order to guarantee a reliable file transferring between two optical modems in bi-directional mode. The developed software was tested among several laboratory test: the user interface was successfully integrated with SUNSET framework, and the communication protocol was stressed during the optical file transmission to verify its reliability.
In last, the alpha version of the modem was tested in seawater experiments, allowing two optical modems to transfer correctly several data by means of the software developed.
